Casing slot recovery
Offshore aged Cease production well require well abandonment operation to make a side track and drill a new well using the existing slot. Usually, casing slot integrity might be damaged with casing pipe corrosion and cement disintegration, therefore a change of casing pipe will be mandatory.
Casing slot recovery consists of cut and retrieve a casing portion from surface to side truck point (Kick-off Point) then replace it with a new cemented casing pipe. A retrieve of a cut casing portion (usually 13 3/8”) with a spear catching inside 9 5/8” casing is not an easy task, on the way up a cut of casing portion stuck in the well bore due to the “Eccentricity” of the 9 5/8” casing inside 13 3/8” casing.
MB-LINES provide an innovative solution to address this challenge by developing a “Casing coupling overshot” to catch a cut casing portion externally from a 13 3/8”casing coupling. This tool provide the following specs:
– Robust, withstand up to 150,000 lbs of over-pull.
– Lowered with drilling string below a work pipe to swallow a 13 3/8” cut casing pipe and latch on the first casing coupling encountered.
– Releasable, in case a cut of a casing portion not done 360 degrees.
– Top end of the cut portion inside a work pipe which prevent a frequent stuck in the well bore.
